Professional Experience
Shyam leads Product Management for Electronics Hardware Platforms at General Motors. Previously, he led a broad spectrum of Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) initiatives at Fisker and Faraday Future. He is deeply passionate about building exceptional software-defined products, bringing hands-on technical expertise as well as transformational leadership to drive organizations to build those products.
Starting his career as a hands-on software engineer, Shyam’s life and career experienced a pivotal change when he entered the EV startup space a decade ago. Working closely one-on-one with visionary EV startup founder-leaders challenged Shyam to deliver their vision into successful products. That meant saying “Yes” to things he had little understanding of and then learning how to achieve them. He deeply cherishes this journey of lifelong learning and observing truly visionary leaders in action. Shyam brought his learnings together and pioneered what he calls “purposeful engineering”, a framework of close alignment between business objectives and engineering realities to achieve strong and sustainable results. He has created multiple innovations in connected and autonomous vehicles and is looking forward to creating many more in the future.
