Professional Experience
Louis is managing partner of Alter Venture Partners, an early-stage venture capital fund that is focused on seed and Series A stage B2B start-ups addressing the evolution of the technology stack at the Edge. Specifically, Alter invests in technical founders pursuing groundbreaking technological innovations in networking & mobility, AI/ML, cloud, data analytics, and cyber security. Alter’s team has many decades of investment experience coupled with deep operating knowhow through senior leadership roles at global communications, media and financial services corporations including Comcast, Telefónica, Credit Suisse, and Banco Santander.
Having co-founded Comcast Ventures in early 1999, Louis became managing partner in 2009 and oversaw venture investing activities at Comcast Corporation and NBCUniversal. During Louis’ tenure at Comcast Ventures, the team built one of the world’s premier corporate venture capital funds with a portfolio of more than 250 direct investments managed by more than 35 professionals in five US offices. The Comcast Ventures’ portfolio spanned early- to late-stage investments in enterprise technology, media, communications, and consumer internet. In addition to his particular focus on networking, video services, cloud data center solutions, mobility, business, intelligence, and cyber security, Louis also collaborated with various Comcast and NBCUniversal business units on internal technology innovation. Through his investments, Louis was also instrumental in the development of several new services and business units at Comcast including Xfinity Home, Comcast Digital Voice, video on demand, and several non-core initiatives in sectors such as population health management and industrial IoT.
Louis has served as an adviser to Touchdown Ventures (now Cerity Partners Ventures), which assists global corporations in setting up and managing their strategic investment groups, since 2018.
Prior to joining Comcast Ventures, Louis worked in investment banking and in venture capital. Louis graduated with honors and holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a MA in International Studies through the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management & International Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He also graduated from the Management & Technology Program at the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Economics from the Wharton School and a BS in Materials Science & Engineering from the School of Engineering & Applied Science.
